On the 77th anniversary of the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad, we honor the memory of the brave citizens and defenders of the City of Leningrad who endured and fought during one of the longest and most destructive sieges in history. Our wreath-laying today respects their humanity and bravery amidst unprecedented suffering.
The honor of these civilians and defenders of the Siege of Leningrad serves as a reminder to all of us of the sanctity of human life and freedom, and the need to increase our global cooperation to prevent future wars and address other threats, including the current COVID-19 pandemic.
