“Thelma & Louise”, at IRC Vladivostok

On March 6, IRC Vladivostok held a screening of the movie “Thelma & Louise” (1991), a now- classic outlaw road movie that deals with female oppression at the hands of men and the women protagonists’ struggle — at great cost — for respect, independence, and free will. The screening was followed by a discussion led by Public Affairs Officer Erik Pugner during which participants discussed whether the movie is anti-male, feminist, whether it carries a positive message for women or promotes violence and escape without true empowerment. This event was part of the monthly movie series held at IRC Vladivostok on the first Friday of each month.
