All of us at the American Embassy and the many American Foreign Service Officers who knew Boris Nemtsov mourn his tragic death today. As governor of Nizhniy Novogorod, Deputy Prime Minister or as a leader of the political opposition, Boris Nemtsov stood for the best in Russia and ably represented the Russian people.
We join our President and Secretary of State in calling on the Russian authorities to investigate this heinous murder expeditiously and bring to justice those responsible.
Our thoughts are with the Russian people and with Mr. Nemtsov’s family and friends as we mourn his loss.
