On September 4th, Information Resource Center Vladivostok held a screening of the movie “Stand by Me,” a 1986 American coming of age drama adventure film. The movie depicts the painful process of maturation that has plagued both teens and preteens for ages. The screening was followed by a discussion, led by Public Affairs Officer Erik Pugner, during which participants discussed friendship and what binds the four boys in the movie together. Attendees were asked to think back to friends that they had when they were younger and think of those with whom they are still friends, and of those with whom they are not. Participants also discussed some slang expressions of the time and whether they were used nowadays. This event was part of the monthly movie series held at IRC Vladivostok on the first Friday of each month.
