Special Representative for North Korea Policy Joseph Yun meets with Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov in Moscow
On April 5, Special Representative for North Korea Policy Joseph Yun met with Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov in Moscow to discuss North Korea and the threat its nuclear and ballistic missile programs pose to global security. The conversation was candid and constructive. Both sides expressed concern about North Korea’s missile launch earlier today.
The United States is committed to working with international partners, including Russia, to ensure robust and sustained implementation of UN sanctions as a means of convincing North Korea that it must comply with UN Security Council resolutions and return to negotiations ultimately leading to its complete denuclearization.
Special Representative Yun emphasized the unwavering U.S. commitment to defend our allies from the North Korean threat, including through the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system to the Republic of Korea (ROK).
