At this month’s meeting, book club members discussed The Color of Water: A Black Man’s Tribute to His White Mother, by James McBride. McBride’s memoir covers his struggle to find where he fit in this world as a black man with a white mother while juxtaposed his mother’s own tale and the challenges she faced defining herself. The book club discussed issues of race, religion, socioeconomics, and identity.
