Arts Envoy “REVolutions Dance”, a disability inclusive modern dance group composed of one wheelchair-bound dancer and three non-disabled dancers, visited the Russian Far East from July 15th to 25th, promoting respect for diversity and appreciation of modern dance.
REVolutions Dance’s program opened in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk with public flash mobs at main squares under the theme “Embrace Me In Dance”, in which local members of the disabled community participated in spontaneous dance and revelry with the visiting dance group and other attendees.
The program continued with interactive master classes, a round-table discussion with parents of children with disabilities, public performances, and performances in front of target audiences in the cities of Vladivostok, Artem, Ussuriisk, and Khabarovsk.
In Vladivostok and Khabarovsk, the U.S. dancers performed alongside and jointly with local professional dancers and members of the local disabled community. Hundreds of spectators attended the main gala performances in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk, and reacted to the performers with standing ovations.
