On January 27, 2020, to mark the 76th Anniversary of the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad, Deputy Chief of Mission Bart Gorman together with diplomatic mission staff laid a wreath at Piskaryovsky Memorial Cemetery to honor the memory of the brave citizens of Leningrad and defenders of the city.
DCM Gorman: “Thinking about the heroism of the citizens of Leningrad and defenders of the city, I am reminded of the poetry of Olga Bergholtz:
We cannot list their noble names here,
There are so many of them under the eternal protection of granite.
But know this, those who regard these stones:
No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”
