Today, Ambassador John F. Tefft met with Harvard Professor Dr. Paul Farmer, co-founder and chief strategist of Partners in Health (PIH), an American non-governmental organization that works to eradicate tuberculosis and other diseases around the world.
PIH has worked in Russia to fight tuberculosis since 1998, and is currently working in Tomsk, Karelia and Voronezh with local health authorities.
Ambassador Tefft and Dr. Farmer discussed the global threat of drug-resistant tuberculosis and how both the United States and Russia can combat TB.
